The Metered Vigour rations the visitor's own willingness to play. A finite reserve — of energy, of lives, of moves — is consumed by ordinary use and refills only with the passage of real time, unless the visitor elects to purchase its immediate restoration.

The specimen sells nothing the visitor did not already possess. It sells the removal of a wait that the seller alone imposed.

The mechanism's precision lies in its timing: the reserve is calibrated to empty at the moment of greatest engagement, so that the wait is felt most sharply exactly when the visitor is least willing to endure it. The purchase, at that instant, is not a convenience. It is a release.

The museum observes that the visitor is here charged for the interruption of an experience by an obstacle that exists solely to be charged for. This exhibit hall enforces a reserve of five Curiosities per day, for the visitor's study of the effect.
